This is how my shop looked the day it almost burned down:

I used to leave my magnifier lamp mounted to my workbench.  One day I left it in the position shown in the photo.  The sun shined through the windows and the height was just right to focus the sunlight onto the bench top.  Under the glass near the right edge of the tool trough you can see the black spot which is where the workbench was charred.

I had been in the shop the day before and noticed a slight burned smell, but since that's nothing new in a shop, I didn't think much of it.  There are actually two 1.5" long tracks next to each other, presumably from the difference in the sun's position over the course of the day and from day to day.

I don't leave my magnifier on the bench anymore!

Frightening.
